FROM MAJOR DONORS AND DEPOSITORS …
The collection of the MAMC+ has never ceased to develop since the 19th century. This priceless collection stems in part from donations and bequests of considerable importance. Amongst the major donors we can cite Vicky Rémy, Jacqueline Brauner, François and Ninon Robelin, the Caisse des Dépôts et de Consignation (Deposits and Consignments Office), or Liliane and Michel Durand-Dessert. Contributions have come from institutions such as the National Modern Art Museum-Centre Georges Pompidou, the National Contemporary Art Fund, the Rhone-Alps/Villeurbanne Institute of Contemporary Art, or from artists such as Pierre Soulages or Raymond Hains.
... TO THE DIRECTORS OF THE MAMC+...
From the 1980’s and thanks to the central role of the directors Bernard Ceysson, Jacques Beauffet and Lorand Hegyi, the Museum has also enlarged its collection through acquisitions. From 1992 to 2004 the collection grew more than in the previous 100 years. The acquisition policy prioritized contemporary creation with the purchase of works from emblematic artists such as Gilbert and George, Bertrand Lavier, Wim Delvoye, Anne and Patrick Poirier… The MAMC+ continues to acquire each year new works of artists from all over the world whether they be international figures or young creators.
...WITHOUT FORGETTING PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS !
Donations from private individuals have also rendered this collection unique. The Design collection, with more than 1700 objects and 600 drawings is a reference in France, and the only collection of this scale outside Paris. It is representative of design history, with furniture but also household goods, audiovisual devices and numerous everyday objects. Don’t be surprised to find your Grandmother’s pressure cooker or your Uncle’s razor. Small donations make the grandeur of this collection
